TELEPURTE - [Artist Influence]

Telepurte is an animator whose YouTube channel I only recently stumbled upon. In 2020, they created one animation, usually between 5 and 15 seconds long, every day and posted it to YouTube. Since 2021, they have been creating FOUR animations every day, and posting them to YouTube.

There is no particular focus threading these animations all together, however Telepurte does have a cast of characters that appear often throughout the days. The content ranges from popular meme culture, to slightly darker in tone, to slightly more provocative. The animations themselves tend to just be in black and white with no background, with the odd one having flat colour, the movement largely focused on an object or character, and typically with no sound. I notice that their daily animations seem to have both frame-by-frame animation combined with what seems like puppet animation.

I find Telepurte's work incredibly inspiring. Although the work they make is fairly simple visually, I find their dedication to keep up with the workload and skill at being able to pump out these animations daily very motivating. I think this kind of work shows that not everything you make or post online needs to be clean, polished and perfect, but that you can quite easily make content for yourself and other people to enjoy that's simple and quick. Although I know I personally wouldn't be able to create an animation per day at this point, I think striving to do something like this, maybe starting on a smaller scale like an animation every week or bi-weekly, would be great for furthering my skills. Outside of university projects, having personal animations and small tests that I can quickly make and post on a regular basis like this would not only greatly help me to improve my animation skills, but would get me used to animating quickly and consistently, which is a useful skill to have as an animator.
